3R HomeWorks is a blog site to show off remodel, renovation, and repair projects that I have done. I am Ralph Guenther, a home improvement contractor, working mostly in Eastern Kansas. I have been known to do projects in other states. I mostly work alone, but have on occasion contracted with others to assist in projects where an additional set of competent skills were needed.

You can contact me by telephone: 913-488-6811

Each of my completed projects is listed below under the "Projects" heading. Clicking on any "Project" will take you directly to a description of the project, complete with photographs. You may need to scroll below the Project Listing to see the project you have selected.

2 Season Room Conversion

This project converted a 2 season enclosed sunroom into an interal part of the house. The room sits on a concrete slab, two treads lower than the floors in the rest of the house. Patio doors from a great room on one side and a French entry door off the kitchen on the other were removed to make way for open access to the room. Exterior grade masonite paneling on all the interior walls and ceiling was removed and replaced with sheetrock. The ceiling was removed, along with the ceiling joists, and replaced with a higher ceiling that matched the ceiling height in the kitchen. A pass-through from the kitchen replaced a double hung window. The room was rewired with two 20 Amp circuits and a 220 V circuit to accommodate a baseboard heater. Additional vents were cut into the house forced air system to air condition the space. New steps into the room were constructed, and the steps and floor were covered with ceramic tile.

Left, formerly, a French exterior door with a glass side-lite, replaced with wider opening, railing and new steps. Right, former sliding patio doors replaced with a framed wide opening and new steps into the room.
